The other ICF/DD is a small 6 person home located in the heart of Cape Coral. Both programs provide Speech, Occupational, Physical and Behavioral Therapies, Dietician and dietary support, Case Management and 24-hour direct support staff. ICF/DD programs provide continuous active treatment to individuals with developmental disabilities. The larger cluster home has 24-hour nursing services on site and the six-person home has 24 hour nursing oversight.

Program Descriptions:

Adult Day Training (aka: Life Skills Development Level 3)

Adult day training services are intended to support individuals participation in their daily routines in the community, offering both mental and social stimulation to participants. Training activities are individualized and designed to engage the individual while allowing participants to interact with their peers on a daily basis. In addition, participants may learn how to do contract work, be part of a mobile work crew, or work in an enclave doing various jobs while improving their employment skills.

In many instances, the availability of day training allows the individual to remain at home and avoid the possibility of admission to a long-term care program.

Day training (Life Skills Development Level 3 under Florida’s iBudget) offered by UCP includes activities such as:

  • Daily living skills, including money management
  • Behavioral and social skills
  • Health, safety and fitness
  • Self advocacy
  • Computer skills
  • Work readiness

UCP provides transportation to the individuals who live in our group homes as well as to some individuals living in community group homes who attend our Adult Day Training programs.

UCP primarily uses vans for transporting individuals; many of these vans are adapted for individuals in wheelchairs or who require other types of assistance.

ICF/DD (Intermediate Care Facility for the Developmentally Disabled)

The ICF/DD services provided in the Cape Coral area are under the Sunrise Community, Inc group of providers. Sunrise and UCP staff work hand in hand to meet the needs of the individuals served.

We have two ICF/DD programs in Cape Coral. One is the 24-person cluster (three homes of eight people) located on Southwest Pine Island Road that offers ICF/DD services for individuals who require intensive therapies and 24-hour medical care.
